I have plenty of experience partitioning PC hdd's but joining the Mac world I guess changes things up some. I'll keep looking for info since it apparently is not as simple as that link makes you think. I like to keep up on linux distros, mainly Linux Mint as I love that distro and used it a lot between roughly 2006-2012. This is my first time trying to put linux on a mac as this is my first mac (got it I think in August last year). *sigh* I may have to buy or find a good free partitoner for Mac. Not sure if all that will help but it's doing it right now.

If I hit the Burn button will it actually partition it to those dimensions or will it do what I originally asked of it?! Please, if anybody can help me, please step forward. Total SSD space is 256GB and it makes the original Macintosh HD 121GB even and the new partition 129.01 GB. but it still only ever gives me 1/2 of my HD space. I have to delete the partition which merges the 2 partitions back into one and then I can re-do the part. I'm really confused by this and it will not allow me to resize it back down to 50GB. I don't know if there is something I am doing wrong.

It appears to work fine but when it actually partitions it (when it is finished with the process) the partion is not 50GB it's 1/2 of my HDD space. All I did was open Disk Utility, choose my HD, click partition on the tab on the right, click the plus sign, resize it to 50 GB and then click apply. I am trying to partition 50GB of my Macintosh HD for use with Linux.
